Heraldic Charges - Placement
Place Names of the Field
A, B, and C refer to the top of the Achievement, as the term, "Chief" indicates.
A - dexter (right-hand side) chief
B - center chief
C - sinister (left-hand side) chief
D, E, and F refer to the center of the Achievement
D - dexter (right-hand side)
E - center, middle, heart
(or fess point)
F - sinister (left-hand side)
G, H, and I refer to the base of the achievement as the term "Base" indicates.
G - dexter(right-hand side) base
H - center base
I - sinister (left-hand side) base
J and K are special locations.
J - honor point - The point immediately above the center of the shield, dividing the upper portion into two equal parts.
K - nombril point - A point in the shield between the fesse point and the middle base point. (Also called the naval point.)
